Live events involve heavy foot traffic, rolling road cases, and sometimes outdoor weather. The cable is heavily reinforced with a cut-proof, rodent-resistant jacket and aramid yarn (the same material used in bulletproof vests) to prevent the delicate glass fibers from breaking.
Dust, dirt, and moisture can ruin a fiber optic signal. The connector features a built-in spring-loaded shutter that closes automatically when you unplug the cable. Once plugged in, the connection is rated IP65, which means it is completely waterproof and dust-tight.
If the tip of a traditional fiber cable gets damaged, you usually have to throw the whole cable away or send it to a repair shop. The OpticalCon Duo accommodates standard LC connectors. This means you can plug conventional LC cables into both the front and back of your patch panels and quickly do basic repairs on site
